So, here we are, another WordPress blog. What exactly are you doing? Well, I’m attempting to teach myself to code.

Why? With my partner having recently returned to work after the birth of our son, I have become a stay at home Dad. As such, I’ve decided to up-skill during my down-time (how do you like those apples?) before we eventually pack him off to daycare / school / whatever it is you do with children.

So who’s going to read this? Honestly, I don’t know. I listened to this podcast the other day and the guest was talking about his coding “journey” (awful, awful word, but it’ll do for now), so I’ve decided to start a blog to track my progress and keep myself honest.

What are you studying then? I had originally enrolled in a Bachelor of IT degree (I just had to look the name of the course up) at RMIT through the Open University, but had to give it up as I could no longer afford the tuition. I then discovered freeCodeCamp, and have been working my way through their curriculum. Having hit some road-blocks, I enrolled in Colt Steele’s Web Developer Udemy course.

And what do you hope to get out of this? A new rewarding career? Maybe. Some mental stimulation? Possibly. Lots of filthy lucre? Hopefully.

Is that you coding in the Featured Image? Nope, I’m borrowing all of my images from Unsplash.

So what are you coding on? A cheap PC I bought off of eBay. Don’t ask me what the specs are, all I know is that the fan whirs all the time, and SublimeText often hangs…

So if you’re learning “Web Dev”, why are you using someone else’s theme? Because I wouldn’t have the first idea where to start right now, but some day…
